I do like your memories and your photos dear Robert. A big hug for you!
Very interesting to know about the Big Ben. I always thought it was the whole structure but it comes to be the Elizabeth’s Tower. Live and learn, live and learn… hahaha… It is so entertaining, I won’t go to work until I finish reading.
Your account, especially of the visit to the Globe, reminds me of a delightful ninth-grade Shasta High English student who was really into As You Like It (pretend the title is underlined)!
I fell in love with Shakespeare under your tutelage and have never recovered! I remember a field trip we took one evening (I may have mentioned this before) to a movie theater to watch Lawrence Olivier as Othello. Now I think that was odd casting, as certainly there must have been many black actors…
I’m very happy to hear from you. I was concerned because your last email said you had fallen.
I’m about to re-open yesterday’s post and edit the errors and typos which I now blame on my sleep-deprived state.
Thank you again for the immense role you played in the development of my tastes in literature and in my confidence in my questionable abilities. You are truly a towering presence in my education and I am forever grateful for the good fortune we all had in being your students.
